Orthodontic Retainers

A retainer is a device designed to prevent the teeth from moving or shifting after orthodontic treatment, such as braces, Invisalign, goody bands, ora-band, othro bands, orthofill, or any other orthodontic work that moves the teeth to a new position. Not wearing a retainer after these treatments increase the risk of your teeth shifting. You spent so long getting your teeth looking the way you want and you want to keep that new look. However, this means taking the necessary steps to keep your teeth in place. Orthodontic retainers help you do just that!

The Convenience and Savings of At-Home Molding for Orthodontic Retainers

At SportingSmiles, our retainers are clear and hard 1mm Essix and Essix Plus brand retainer material. We offer full mouth, upper or lower orthodontic retainers. This is the same product you would get from a dentist, without the cost and need for a dental visit.

We offer our cutting-edge impression technology that enables customers to take fully accurate self-impressions in the comfort of their own homes. In 2011 we designed, and later patented, the world’s first dual-arch adjustable dental impression tray that adjusts to all mouth sizes. The trays work for both upper and lower teeth. This new technology changed the way you create dental impressions. No more costly dental visits! This new technology enables us to keep the costs down and pass the savings on to you.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Is it hard to make impressions at home?

We’ve helped thousands of people successfully make their at-home impressions using our kit. Because everyone’s mouth is different, it’s important to have an impression tray that adjusts. In 2011 we patented our adjustable tray to make it even easier to get a perfect impression.

We include an extra set of impression material, just in case. You’ll want to watch the video and make sure you’ve got everything prepared properly. But in our experience, making the impression at home is much easier than scheduling an appointment, driving across town, sitting in a waiting room, and spending hundreds of extra dollars to have your orthodontist do this for you.

How Long Does It Take to get my retainers?

As soon as your impression is received, it will take approximately 10 business days before your new appliance is completed and shipped. International shipping can be a lengthy process. Please be patient when ordering internationally.

Can I use my FSA debit card or HSA card?

Yes, you can use your Flexible spending account or HSA account on our website. You can use it as a normal credit card. If your FSA or HSA requires a more detailed invoice please let SportingSmiles know and we can email you one.

What if I mess up on my impression?

If the impression material hardens or the impression doesn’t come out well contact us and we will send you out a replacement putty free of charge, the tray is reusable. If the kit is sent in and the impression(s) were bad it would be a $15 charge to cover shipping you another impression kit to you.

Are your products BPA Free?

Yes! All our products (retainers, night guards, teeth whitening trays, and mouthguards) are BPA, BPS, DEHP, and latex-free

What is the impression putty made from?

VPS (Vinyl Polysiloxane). The putty is FDA approved and the MSDS is available on request.

Why is SportingSmiles so much cheaper than my dentist?

To purchase a typical retainer in the past, your dentist would have to take an impression at his office and send it out to a dental laboratory for construction. This requires using valuable office time which needs to be incorporated into the price of the guard. Because we operate our laboratory and are using a self-impression method we can dramatically reduce the cost of your retainer.
